Semar

Semar is one of Punakawan in Javanese puppet. Semar is the leader of five punokawan. In this article I would not explain the five of these punokawan, but I would tell about Semar.
Semar in javanes philosophy is called Badranaya. Badranaya is formed by two words bebadra and naya or nayaka. Bebadra means builds supporting facilities from base, while naya or nayaka means a courier who has mangrasul nature. From these word semar means someone who has a duty which its nature is building and executes God command for the sake of man prosperty.
Semar is not a woman nor a man, semar’s right hand is upward while semar’s left hand is ponting to backward. Semar is a chief of karang dempel village. Karang means gersang, dempel means keteguhan jiwa. Semar hair is called Kuncung , which means akuning sang kuncung it means semar has a soul as a servant.
As a servant semar serve all human being, he has willingness to do devotional service as the God
command. Semar walk with starring upward, which means in semar’s journey he always to be a good raw model as a human we have to always remember God, The Most Mercy full.
Semar physical appearances looks like a child, but semar has mature man face. semar’s laughing always ended by a crying, semar eyes is crying but the mouth is laughing. Semar profile is standing and also squatting.
Semar never ask to do all the advice but semar always gives consequency to the advice.
Javanese culture has born a religi in believing of God through Semar, far before Hindu, Budha or moeslem came to Java.
In Javanese spiritual, Semar is a historical fact, but its nature is more mythology and symbolic about there’s only One God in this universe, which is a symbol of expression, perception manifestation, and meaning oh God who show the concept of spiritual.
This meaning is a prove the from prehistorical time Javanese had had a religion and believe that there’s only one God in this universe.
